Work Arrangement: Camp-based position (residential on site)

Job Purpose

The HSEQ Manager is responsible for implementing and managing Yasam Investments’ Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality systems across camp and facilities management operations at remote mining sites in Kolwezi. The role ensures compliance with mining industry safety requirements while enforcing international standards including ISO management systems and HACCP food safety protocols across catering, housekeeping, laundry, pest control, waste management, and camp administration services.

Key Responsibilities

HSEQ Systems Implementation

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Yasam’s integrated HSEQ management system across the Kolwezi operation.
  • Ensure alignment with ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management) frameworks.
  • Establish structured safety procedures and operational controls across all service areas within the camp.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all operational departments.

Mining Site Safety Management

  • Ensure compliance with mining client HSE standards and site regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections across accommodation camps, kitchens, warehouses, food storage facilities, and operational areas.
  • Implement hazard identification and risk assessment programs specific to remote camp operations.
  • Monitor safety performance and enforce corrective actions where required.

HACCP and Food Safety Management

  • Implement and maintain HACCP food safety systems across all catering operations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene standards, temperature control procedures, food storage protocols, and traceability systems.
  • Conduct regular food safety inspections and kitchen audits.
  • Train catering staff on food safety procedures and HACCP compliance.

Environmental Management

  • Oversee environmental management practices including waste management, water use, chemical handling, and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure proper segregation and disposal of kitchen waste, operational waste, and hazardous materials.
  • Support environmentally responsible operations aligned with sustainability principles.

Compliance and Regulatory Management

  • Ensure compliance with national health, safety, and environmental regulations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Maintain HSEQ documentation, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance registers.
  • Coordinate internal inspections and external audits.

Incident Management and Risk Control

  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, and food safety issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Maintain incident reporting systems and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.

Training and Safety Culture

  • Conduct safety inductions for all employees deployed to the site.
  • Deliver HSEQ training programs including food safety, hygiene, and environmental awareness.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks and safety briefings across departments.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and maintain emergency response procedures for the camp environment.
  • Coordinate drills including fire response, evacuation, and food contamination response.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and availability of PPE, safety equipment, and emergency systems.

Reporting and Monitoring

  • Monitor HSEQ performance indicators across the Kolwezi site.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly HSEQ reports for management and mining clients.
  • Track incident trends and implement improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Food Safety, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE certification.
  • HACCP certification or Food Safety Management qualification.
  • Training or experience in ISO Management Systems implementation (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).

Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years experience in HSE or HSEQ management.
  • Experience working in remote mining operations, camp management, catering, or facilities management environments.
  • Proven experience implementing HACCP systems in large-scale catering operations.
  • Experience working in remote, camp-based operational environments.
